Mrs. Kathy's has a rare quality that captures the essence of homestyle cooking at its truest form. Mrs. Kathy's cooking dates back to her childhood watching her mother prepare meals for the family. Her passion began when her mother handed her a bowl to make her first pan of biscuits! Her love for cooking spread like a wildfire. Years later little Kathy became Mrs. Kathy, wife and mother. As master chef in a cozy house on 35th Street, Mrs. Kathy warmed the stomach and the hearts of her husband, her four children, and her entire neighborhood preparing delicious meals everyday with the comfort of home that her, now adult, children emulate and will pass down to their children. A little southern influence, sprinkled with warmth and the personal touch passed down from her mother through the years, Mrs. Kathy applies her own unique flavor and creativity to every dish giving it her signature style and an unforgettable taste that is guaranteed unmatched. In Mrs. Kathy's kitchen everything is 100% homemade from scratch everyday. When you have Mrs. Kathy's it will give you the best feeling of home - her home.

I can see why Texas Monthly wrote them up as one of the top cafes in Texas -- the food is pretty good! The servings are well-sized, everything tastes homemade (you can see them cooking in the back if you have suspicions otherwise), and the service is okay. I'd argue that the prices are little high (two people, with drinks and tip can pay up to $25). It's a great treat so don't forget dessert!
